The Honda Type R is now available in the United States. We had the chance to take the 2023 Honda Civic Type R for a week-long spin, and we think this is the best front-wheel drive ever produced.

The Type R accelerates quickly and you don’t feel any torque steer. The handling is the real highlight. The 2023 Honda Civic Type R will beat you every day. It is an engineering marvel. I couldn’t push it past comfort on public roads. I don’t think you will be able push it on track beyond my limits. The Type R’s limits are beyond most of us. The adaptive damper system ensures a smooth ride on all surfaces. Steering feels responsive and extremely engaging, while the brakes are confidently exquisite.

Despite being slightly heavier than the previous Type R model, the 2023 Type R carries its weight with ease. It feels grounded, playful, and confident. Shifting is the most enjoyable. The shifter feels very crisp, smooth, short, and precise. The rev matching is excellent, helping you to drive spiritedly and also smoothly. The RPM is just right to keep you from being lazy, but it also gives you enough time for you to get in gear and continue the fun. It was difficult to get more than 20 mpg on our week-long drive, but it was easy to understand given the way we drove.
